Hi, I’ve been looking around for a manufacturer who makes an N scale speed wagon or towable speedomter.
If I had my druthers, it would have an LED display-readout showing the actual scale mph as it was towed behind a loco. I’m interested in all wagon possbilities from homemade to European brands.
I’ve had a more extensive look around and even though I haven’t found a speedometer car in N Scale like I am looking for, there are some other options to try. Does anyone know how to order a Trainspeed product? They don’t take direct orders on their website (which is somewhat dated) and I can’t find them in my usual suppliers.
Seems like all the DIY cars are HO, not N Scale so whether or not a pre-built cyclometer or some such would fit in a N Scale car seems to still be a bit of a mystery.
Arcticle in Railroad Model Craftsman: “How fast? How far?” I haven’t seen it but apparently it shows you how to build your own speedometer out of a bike speedometer
I believe that I know one of the Train Speed folks. I sent him an e-mail referencing your post and asking him if he could give me some information. If he responds, I’ll pass along the information.
To close the loop on the Trainspeed Indicator availability question, I received an e-mail back from one of the owners of TDP. I was told that they have closed that business as of the end of 2010. The remaining stock was purchased by Greenway Products. I looked and Greenway has them shown on their website: http://www.greenwayproducts.com/storeroom/Electronics/trainSpeed.html. I was also told that Lins Junction in Lansdale, Pa., might also have a couple. You will have to call them to see if they still have any available. Lins website is: http://www.linsjunction.com/
