Looking for an old friend from the Chicago area

Hello,

I just found this forum and thought I’d try to find an old friend who I haven’t seen in over 25 years…my appologies if this is not the appropriate use of this discussion.

I knew Danny and Pat Windolf back in the 70’s and early 80’s when Danny and I worked together as musicians. They were avid railroad fans. Just before leaving Chicago I contacted them and had a chance to visit with them at their home in, I believe, Des Plains or Park Ridge, where they were building an HOn3 layout in their basement and hosting a club for same.

I believe Danny had also authored an article in Model Railroader, again sometime in the early 80’s that discussed a layout he and his fellow employees were building in the hobby shop in that area.

I have not seen or been in contact with the Windolf’s since leaving Chicago but would very much like to meet up with them again, and talk about old times and railroading. Please let me know if anyone knows them and knows their whereabouts or have them contact me…it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Al

The index to articles on this website shows three articles by Dan Windolf, the most recent being 2003. http://index.mrmag.com/tm.exe?opt=S&sort=D&output=3&cmdtext="WINDOLPH%2C+DAN"

His Model Railroader article is in the August 1982 issue page 91 about building a layout at the Hobby Lobby in Arlington Heights IL.

Good luck in finding your old friend.

Thanks for lending a hand, Dave.

Dave,

Thanks so much for the reference. I’ll be sure to follow up on this.

Why don’t you go to one of the national phone books on the web like superpages or yellow book and look him up?

RE: national lookups…I’ve tried that and there are very few if any listings for him.

But I’m not giving up…thanks.
