I have been looking all over, and I do not seem to be able to find any. I kind of found one on ebay, but it was one of the gas turbine ones… Even the little 2-8-2’s are harder to find. I was thinking it be easy to get one, just pop over to Bachmann China’s web site an order one. NOPE! Could not get that one to work. So if anyone could help me out and point me in the right place that be awesome.
When you do a search on ebay make sure you are looking worldwide in your search. It took me almost a year to find mine at a good price. I have the 2-10-0 and 2-8-2. One can from china the other from England. You can also check out ebay UK for listings. If you are registered with Ebay US you can sign-on to Ebay UK with the same ID.
Search for Bachmann china or chinese not just QJ.

Thanks for the tips. Do you have any photos, or anything of your stuff?
Had a random idea to do modern steam. Model something looking like the cascades handling coal, lumber, ore, Small lumber mills and maybe a steel mill whatever it maybe. Have everything Chinese steam. One of those wonderful “what if” someone decided steam was better and just ordered say 6 Qj’s, 4 Sj, and, 5 Sy’s and just had steam working all the time. You are getting coal from the hills for cheap, and there is a lot of water up in the hills… heck idk some reason that made running it somewhat worth it. lol Dont know if I will ever get around to that or not… helping the old man with his is taking a life time. haha
I think it be neat set up really. At least its not something I have seen anyone do yet.
Yes, ebay can be your friend here. [;)] I’m hoping my son will be returning to China soon for his college studies. If so, I’m gonna have him ship a QJ or 2 back home to dear old Dad!
Hey I might want to toss in to that pot, and we should get a bulk order going. haha
It would seem Sj’s are impossible to find anyplace. Qj’s are out of the price range for now with needing DCC & sound. (club rule it sucks, but its kind of awesome when its all working)
I settled on a Sy. Got it cheap. $140 for the little Susquehanna… got lucky on a snipe late last night! So no need to do any "mericanizing" to it. Going to toss a oil bunker in it, and work out on a Tsunami decoder/speaker setup that will fit. I have also been leaning to a D&RGW K-36 sound… It has a nice whistle.
That’s not a bad deal. I wish Bachmann would bring more of them to the US. One thing you might do to the SY is add some Bulfrog snot to one of the drivers. Works good. They are not known for pulling power.
Bob
Bachmann should bring more over, I feel they would sell real well. Heck most of the people I know would get one, or two.
Bullfrog snot?
Google Bullfrog snot. It is a rubber coating you can put on the drive wheel for traction.
Bob
Oh wow that’s is a game changer if I have ever seen one.
Mine was $140 BRAND NEW. At a LHS brick and mortar store who also has a well known online business. I saw it and had to have it. Had them hold it a week til I had the $$$. And they did with a deposit.
So you didn’t get it too “cheap”.
Another MR dealer lists it at $99.99 on sale, and naturally is out of stock.
So even I didn’t get such a hot deal.

Well in a odd turn something happened and the Susquehanna loco did not run… The “all sales are finale” of the guy who sold it was not worth the hassle of fighting.
I sent the poor little thing back to Bachmann at the first of the month. Got a call today, and they can NOT service them anymore nor do they have replacements. He said sorry, but he could send me a GS-4, or a Berkshire no charge… With me already having a MTH Gs6, and wanting something different I went with a NKP Berk.
I really don’t want it. Yes I comes already DCC and what not, but I want that little 2-8-2… Any one up for a trade? Hmm anyone swap me a nice little china Sy for a Berk? Wishful thinking…
