Looking for O scale Moxie Soda Billboard

and any idea who the young man is on the Can? Personaly Moxie Soda is like Cincy Chili it is a aquired taste

I don’t know about a billboard but I know where you can get a Boxcar. It’s the Lionel 6-52236, a 2001 NETCA commemorative car. The museum I volunteer at has one for sale but it’s hardly the cheapest boxcar I’ve seen- $80 iirc. Original box too I think.

Moxie Boxcar?

A quick Google search for “Moxie ad” brought up quite a few images of quality good enough that you could use to make your own.

Since Moxie has been around since 1884, finding out who the original model was that posed for the advertising could prove difficult. However Lawrence Cowen did pose for early Lionel ads so it’s possible he was the boss’s son just as it was with Lionel. In later years the Moxie spokesperson was Ted Williams.

Out of curiosity I tried Moxie on a trip to Maine back in the 80’s. When ice cold it was pretty good, but as it warmed up it didn’t taste so great anymore. [+o(]

The best way I can describe the flavor is carbonated black coffee.

Yup! It looks pretty slick, I’ve been tempted by it but I can’t justify that much money for one car- I tend to buy all my stuff as projects, and on the cheap. But that’s a whole other topic.

PS: You could probably easily make your own billboard insert for a Lionel billboard. Maybe that’s all just down to the confidence of a person who regularly plays around with gimp (but realistically only knows how to correctly use 1/3 of the settings and tools, at best). If you are able to scale and print out a color image onto paper, all you need is a good image of the logo. But a little computer graphics magic can help a lot with more creative approaches than simply finding an image and going right to the printer. Gimp is a free program, not as fancy as photoshop but it won’t require an expensive subscription to use. I was able to teach myself enough that I can stumble my way through most anything I want to use it for. But that’s a whole side tangent isn’t it!
