Got that right. I guess im old school.
Fair point, @rdmeyersr, and yes indeed its old school but cool!
I might do that with individual pieces if i had a printed. But i make one item and recast enough.
OK, fair enough.
I did a lot of that kind of modeling when I was younger, craftsman type kits, super detailing, and on some levels I still do.
But I developed an interest in building a larger layout, so by example, Iām not scratch building 170 Athearn/ConCor/MDC interiors. In fact Iām not sold on the idea that I need interiors.
But, at the low prices of perfect fitting 3D printed one for these cars, I have bought a few to test/experiment with, and may end up doing some percentage of the roster.
Decades ago Walthers made interior kits for their wood/metal passenger cars and also offered versions for Athearn and Roundhouse cars. They were similar to the Palace Car Company kits but were all wood and cast metal pieces.
Lot of people/companies have already done the design work to match the windows of the Athearn cars, be they old Walthers kits, Palace Car Co kits, or current #D offerings. I think these sources would help you more than prototype drawings since the Athearn cars are freelanced and shortened cars.
Best of luck,
Sheldon
Nothing wrong with old school, but you do realise that photos will be expected!
Cheers, the Bear.
