Looking for Streamline Passenger interior blueprints

Does anyone have any resources, websites for floorplans on streamline passenger cars? I dont want to buy 3d pre-printed items, just looking for floorplans for Santa Fe streamliners so i can create interiors for my Athearn SF passenger cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ron

The Athearn cars are not accurate scale models of actual Santa Fe passenger cars. They are freelanced or “generic” passenger cars. So actual railroad blueprints or drawings will not help you much.

Do you intend on building the interiors yourself? 3D printed or by other more traditional methods.

This company makes nice, but pricey, passenger car interior kits and has kits for Athearn streamlined cars.

I’d bet that gmpullman (Ed) would have something like that. He has made some amazing interiors for his passenger cars. Check the diner – he has posted there, and you could message him.

What is the diner?

Thanks, John! I’ll have a look at what I have for Santa Fe resources. I have several Santa Fe 4-4-2 and 10-5 Pullmans and these are ‘through’ cars that ran on the Century.

I begin with Walthers Proto cars and these have quite accurate interiors as part of the ‘package’.

My nephew actually owns this car, the 10-6 Pine King. He’s a 1:1 modeller!

Is there a specific car you’re looking for?

Any in a typical consist. Coach, dome observation, sleeper, etc. THANKS!

The ‘diner’ is the Jeffrey’s Trackside Diner thread, the designated thread for ‘off-topic discussions’. (Its counterpart on the Trains Magazine forum is the ‘Chatterbox’.)

Sorry about that – I should have explained more. Woke_Hoagland explained it.

If you go to Ebay and search “Athearn HO interiors” or something similar, there are several sellers out there who make 3D printed one-piece drop-in interiors for Athearn passenger cars. Price range around $20 each, sometimes less.

So you did not read the part of the OP’s post where he specifically said he did not want to buy 3D printed interiors?

Did rdmeyersr find out for the first time through this thread that Athearn passenger cars are freelance? If so, I would recommend you reconsider buying 3D printed items on eBay. It is much easier and more effective to get them and focus on painting the interior and adding figures. A lot of the information presented here will make for some great models. Hopefully you will keep up your passion for the passenger cars.

Hello mister car salesman, I would like to buy a red FORD.

Sure thing sir, right over here I have this great blue Chevy…

How about we hope the OP will respond and explain why he stated from the outset that he is not interested in 3D printed interiors?

Hey, @BN7150, that model you have there reminds me of the Baldwin DR-4-4-1500 ‘Babyface’ unit with the way the cab looks, and the Budd car (I think) is lookin’ Sharp!

If the original poster is like me, he wants to make the interiors himself. I imagine he could buy one 3D printed piece to use as a guide to make others, but it sounds like he will enjoy studying the blueprints and building the interiors. I’m with him on that!

I could buy everything ready to go, but the fun part of the hobby for me is scratch-building as much as I can.

I would do something similar, York1, but instead I take measurements and design the interior digitally, then 3D print it entirely

My mistake, on a quick read I thought he said he didn’t want to make (i.e., create) his own 3D prints. Just pointing out there were ready to use interiors (which are very nice by the way).

My reason for not wanting 3D printed items is simple. Being a modeler, id like to attempt to create my own interiors from scratch like they used to do in the olden days… lol. No one actually takes a magnifying glass to look and see if everything is in there so i dont need a bunch of extra stuff. I belive less is better in smaller scales and if you can make people think they saw something thats not really there, then its a win.
