Lost all Power except Green light on ZW Transformer

Small 12 foot by 12 foot O gauge layout. Operating three individual trains interconnected with plastic pins in center rail. Fourth control for power on upgrade. Also have KW for variable voltage for twenty 022 switches. Still building and wiring layout. Had three trains running and switches powered to about 15 volts. Suddenly everything except the green power light on the ZW went out. Too frustrated right now to troubleshoot. Any help or ideas will be appreciated. Please E-mail reply as well as here if you like.
Thanks

Rich

Sounds like the the circut breaker in the ZW popped did you try shuting down the ZW for a few minutes and starting back up to see if the circut breaker reset?[%-)]

ricorich,

fleet621 is probaly correct. It could be a breaker.

If the light comes back on when you restore power you will need to check things with a volt meter.

If it happens again you will need to add up your wattage (motors, lights, etc.) to dertermine your draw.

If the circuit breaker was open on a postwar ZW, the green light should not be on. Another possibility is a beak between the ground bus bar and the terminals. ZW’s are often found with one or more of the terminals broken away inside. They typically look fine from the outside. You can try using a different ground terminal. I have yet to see a transformer with all four broken off. Someone makes bolt-on replacement terminals. They work well on ZW transformers.

HI Rich

Good luck with the ZW. I think you have some good subjection already to check. One other would mean removing the cover. PLEASE make sure it is UNPLUGED FIRST . Check if the wire to the common buss is disconnected.

I agree. You could suffer serious lip damage if you buss a transformer while it is plugged in.

So, what did you find?
