Lou Sassi's Fire House in How to Build and Detail Model Railroad Scenes, Vol. 2

Can anyone please tell me what building was used as the basis for the Fire House in Lou Sassi’s Book - How to Build and Detail Model Railroad Scenes, Vol. 2?

In John Pryke’s Building City Scenery for Your Model Railroad, it’s obvious he used DPM’s Carrs Parts Building for his fire House.

Thanks for you help!

Steve

He had it custom built.

Steve - Re Lou Sassi’s Fire House - if this is the same one I’m thinking of (I don’t have the book) - it may have been briefly covered in the pages of MR sometime in the last 6-8 years, since I do recall his describing the modifications he made to a kit to create such a structure. It may have started out life as a DPM kit. Now none of the titles associated with Sassi’s name on this site’s magazine index suggests immediate association with the fire house, but try looking at the article, “Model Realistic Streets and Sidewalks” in the November 2006 issue.

Thank for your help. I’ll check the november issue!

Ahhhh…sorry, Steve, I’m afraid I’ve misled you here. I checked the November '06 issue this afternoon myself and it turned out not to be the right article.

Lou has quite a number of articles in MR from the 90’s and 00’s and I distinctly recall seeing a nicely kitbashed fire station by him in one of them, taking particular note of it at the time since I was planning to build one myself. Pretty sure it was a DPM building that he had to add a roll-up door to in front and lengthen the structure to accommodate his ladder truck. It was a clever job of utilizing a standard commercial structure for a highly specialized purpose building.
