Louisiana Logging Railroads

Thought you might like to see this:

The Natalbany Lumber Co. built this large mill at Natalbany, just north of Hammond. Their standard gauge logging railroad was the New Orleans, Natalbany & Natchez, which ran northwest as far as a connection with the Y&MV north of Slaughter.

Neal, thanks for your post - I found it quite interesting. I assumed the U.S. logging railroads were all narrow gauge, but then I read your post about the New Orleans, Natalbany & Natchez Railroad, and realised they also existed in standard gauge.

Were the majority of logging railroads narrow gauge, or were there plently of standard gauge systems like this one as well?
