I have an old Union Pacific M-10000. It was made by MAR Toys. Its a little scratched up but it still runs. I was wondering if anyone knew what its value would be? Thanks to anyone who replys.

You can watch Ebay to get a good idea of the value of your train. The specific model and condition will impact the value. I just checked Ebay and there were two Marx M-10000 sets currently up for bid.

It was actually made by a company called Marx. Under the topic “MAR Toys, New York, NY. UP cattle car” on these forums I gave a history of Marx. There are many different color variations of the Marx M-10000. It can either have a brown top with yellow sides, green top with cream sides, maroon top with silver sides, olive top with yellow sides, tan top with light tan sides or tan top with yellow sides. Also, is the train wind-up or electric? The M-10000 sets also came with different numbers of cars. How many cars does your set have? All of these factors determine the value of the train.

Its maroon with silver sides, wind-up, and has a the engin with 2 passenger cars. it also has the oval track along with it.

Your train set was made in 1936. You mentioned that there were some scratches, so it probably wouldn’t be in excellent condition, without seeing it I would have to guess that it would rate as being in good condition as far as values are concerned. If it was in excellent condition it would obviously be worth a lot more. The engine by itself would be worth $30. I assume that one of the passenger cars is labeled “Coach” and the other is labeled “Coach Buffet” and has a rounded streamlined end. Each would be worth $25 by itself. The whole set would be about $80. That’s just a rough estimate. It could be worth more or less, depending on how bad the scratches are. When collecting trains the outside condition of the train is far more important to collectors than whether or not it runs. The Marx M-10000 is a nice train and a popular item amoung collectors.
