M. B. Klein

Why should I buy from M.B. Klein?? I have heard nothing but GOOD things about this company, however, I also like Dallas Model Works. Any feedback??

I use them both, they both have good prices and deals. Though Dallas Model works seems to have specials and member discounts. Being a member is free and you get discounts on stuff. MB Klien seems to have allot of rolling stock I like and the clearance section sometimes is a gold mine. I really think they are both worth a browse now and again.

Used both… Like both… my last order was from DMW and I was looking at an item not listed… same day after an email he had it posted on his site for me to order. ((100 wheel sets from IM))

I order from MB Klien all the time, in fact I was at their store this past Tuesday for another $70 order. Nice to deal with have been very pleased with every purchase.

They are number #1 on my list of mail order. I used to order alot from Toy Train Heaven and they were very quick and accurate, but they lost the edge.

I have ordered from MB Klein several times and always been pleased. Dallas Model Works doesn’t carry S, so I haven’t ordered from them.

Enjoy

I buys a lot of stuff since years from M.B. Klein. Never hat any problems and they never tried any kind of trick on me. A very trustred seller.

Best prices and fast service.

Or, you can check out Trainworld, www.trainworld.com. They ship faster than anyone.

Both M.B. Klein and Trainworld buy up overstocked items and out-of-production inventory. They sell these at what they call “blowout” prices. Quantities are usually limited, and you probably won’t find the most popular road names available. But, the prices can’t be beat, and what you see on their web sites is in-stock, in the building. (Some e-tailers don’t actually have items in inventory. When you order from them, they order from their distributers. This adds delay to shipping, of course, and sometimes they can’t get something at all. Bah on those guys.)

You should check both of these places, because often one will have something that the other doesn’t.

Try to buy from your LHS, too, if you can. We frequently see “death notices” here about shops closing. These big on-line guys can save you money, but they are driving the LHS’s out of business. Are you going to go online next time you need a package of rail joiners at 4 PM on Saturday?

Absolutely!

I love their “real time” inventory and low prices…I do 90% of my on line shopping there.

That’s the only hobby shop I know that I could walk in with (say)$1200.00 to spend and come out broke.

Thank goodness MBK isn’t my LHS…My monthly(some times twice monthly) orders gets a large chunk of my hobby budget as it is.[(-D].

Frankly I would love to make a trip every Saturday to a well stock hobby shop that would offer a minimal discount or work with me on his prices…However, its a 52 mile round trip and the shop may not have what I need in stock–including rail joiners or a simple item like MT 1015-1 couplers.

A former close shop has reopen in Mansfield…I plan on checking this shop out Monday when I go to the doctors. This was a good shop and the owner would work with you.

As far as hobby shops closing topics seldom do we have the reason why the shop closed.

The reason can be many from the owner closing because of retiring, illness, lost the rental contract etc

Larry,

Yea, that’s a terrific feature. And I actually tested it out one time to see if it really worked. There were 3 of the particular locomotive that I wanted. Right after I purchased it, I checked the inventory again: It was down to 2. [:)][tup] The one thing that I have noticed about M.B. Klein is that, although you can find some great deals on older items, their new locomotives are usually full price.

Although I normally buy my locomotives online, I buy my stock items (i.e. rolling stock, kits, parts, supplies, etc.) from my LHS. I’d have to say that 80-90% of my MRRing monies are spent at the LHSes in my area.

And they aren’t necessarily local either. Each one is at least a 1/2 hour drive from my house. Still, I feel compelled to support them at much as I can because of the rapport I have with each one of them.

Tom

I ordered two items from M.B. Klein yesterday (August 19, 2009) and they arrived today (August 20, 2009)…now I ask you what kind of customer service is that?

Maybe they’ve recruited some folks from the old “Psychic Friends Network” call-in line to work there - they apparently had your order ready to go out the door before you even knew what you were going to order!!
