I have just swabbed my entire railroad with Maas and the rails look great.
However, I have splotches of pink on the side of rails, frogs, ties, etc.
What is the best way to apply this poli***o avoid the spills. Also, in rubbing
the rails hard to get the gunk off I knocked several trackside details off.
How can this be avoided?

The technique that I use: Get yourself two small blocks of wood, the same size as a brite boy,
or the brite boy itself.
Next cut up an old t-shirt into 6" or 7" strips, 2" wide and wrap around the BB.
Apply the MAAS to the long narrow edge of the BB and drag along the top of the rail head.
This eliminates unneeded spill over.
Let slightly dry and wipe off with BB untreated t-shirt material. The cotton material works well.

I have tried Walmart, Lowes and Home Depot. I am either looking in the wrong department or they don’t carry it. Thanks Dave
Generally speaking you can find MAAS, www.maasinc.com in the household
cleaners dept of stores such as Target, Ace hardware etc.
I have also used automotive polishing compound that has the same effect.
Does Mass contain abrasives? Is it better than Goo Gone?
I found MAAS at Home Depot - with the rest of the household cleaners.
This stuff works wonders, and keeps things clean for longer.
I too use old cut up tee-shirts, and apply sparingly! You don’t need but a smudge on a clean cloth to do a section of rail. Follow up with another clean cloth. I used to have the same issues with left over pink residue until I stopped using so much of it.
PS: It is much better than Goo Gone because it does not leave a slippery residue (assuming you remove all the polish from the rail). However, I would not throw out the Goo Gone just yet. It’s still a very good solvent cleaner for those tougher cleaning situations. MAAS is like applying the wax on a car after it’s washed. Super-cleans and protects.
No, there’s no abrasive in MAAS. I also have used Goo Gone as well
as other cleaners and find that the MAAS does a excellent good job for me.
Works great on loco wheels too.
