Hello all I am going to the mad river museum in bellview oh .on aug 18 is ther any hotspots on the way or any LHS on the way? I am coming from summit county .witch is southeast of bellview .thanks frank[:)]
You might want to consider going to or from the area via US 224. It runs next to CSX for much of the trip and by taking the side roads you can see much of the Willard Yard from public property. The yard is located on the northwest edge of town, only the easternmost part touches downtown Willard.
At Bellevue there are a lot of RR things to see including the NS facility north of town. Ask at the museum, lots can be seen from public property.
The Museum its self is good. I was at the museum its right by both NS mains through there. I was there just a few days ago, in the like 2 hours we where there it was like 9 or 10 trains.
Frank,There is a lot of places to view trains at Bellevue…One place NOT to go is the RT.4 bridge over the hump area and has a good view of the engine service area…The OSP will chase you off that bridge due to the heavy RT.4 traffic.

Now there is a county road that takes you back to Ranger Tower where you can watch them flat switch cars and IF they are still there get to see the SD9Ms working the yard.STAY AWAY FROM THE YARD TRACKS and stay on the County road!!! NS will chase you out if you get to close to the tracks.Other then that you can sit there for hours if you chose.
The thing about Bellevue its a very busy place and you will see lots of trains…Of course like always stay off the railroad property and tracks,take lots of pictures and enjoy the day.
As a side trip you could swing by Willard and look CSX’s Willard yard over.Lots of public viewing and a parking lot by the engine service area…Again stay off the tracks.Section Gang Road(something section-its been awhile) will take you to the hump area…This is a county road and there is houses along the way to the hump and like Bellevue stay on the County road.

Hello went to bellview on friday had a nice time did not make it to willard i want to make shure i know where to go and not to go. maybe in 2 weeks i will head that way we went out 303 and stop in valley city depot they had 0-4-0 and baywindow cabbose .seen a csx in lagrangd cross 303 had to stop and wait for it about 2min down track. seen ns in bellview by museum .they have alot of cool stuff in all the cars tools,lights,locks,photos, had a small layout push a button and it will run round&round .no hobby shop in town it burn down years ago the gift shop had some stuff . if you can stop by its worth the 7$ to get in it took about 2 1/2 hours with my 3 year .they let you in some power and most of the cars i will try and get some pics up soon .[:)] frank
