Maglev company opens Baltimore office

I wonder what they actually do in their three offices with no track built and no trains running. They don’t need three offices just to lobby the government for their cause.

Don’t fret, George. It’s only gummint money.

Big waste of time and money.

I do like the idea of a separate system from freight RR’s. It allows for a potentially different set of “crush rules” compared to combined freight and passenger RR’s. The American public has always been interested in speed of transit as well as convenience. 12 billion may seem a lot but remember we spent about 10 billion on the Boston road nightmare that still did not connect North and South RR stations.

It already costs over $1million per mile to build just a ROW capable of hauling freight, and that’s not including the lawyers’ bills and court costs fighting off lawsuits from the tree-huggers and NIMBYS. I see this as just more political contributors and lobbyists guzzling up as much tax money as they can like the windmill and solar outfits have.

Get it built. It’s time this country changes it’s mindset and join the world of high speed intercity travel.

I wonder how many other railfans beside myself have ZERO interest in Maglev which is about as exciting as riding a new elevator in an office building.

@RON SALTERS - I wouldn’t call my interest zero, but it feels like an entirely different form of transportation to me, like Hypetubes(sic) or BRT, with only vague connections to rail.
