Mainstream's Perception of Railroads

I think the population has mixed feelings about the railroad some people like us and idolize us while others hate us, kids wave at us all the time we are going by, and some like this lady who was watching us go by gave me the finger when I waved at her I’ve had some people ask why we have to blow our horn or start giving me hell for making them wait at a crossing or my favorite is fools who go around the gates apperently they don’t realize what a train can do to a car

Painted Bridges on the CSX still have Chesapeake & Ohio markings on them in Michigan.

What should CSX do about the image of their property?

A.) Heritage Paint schemes that pay tribute to all CSX Predecessors.

B.) CSX “Dark Future” Scheme for all structures.

IIRC, Mudchicken said that state DOT’s are responsible for painting RR bridges over state or interstate highways.

The DOT responsible…for ANYTHING!!?[(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]

I anybody here in the U.S. wants to see passenger railroading that is very much alive and well, they only need look at Europe…this is because of the $5 / gallon gas costs. We here are so enamoured with our cars we simply don’t want to travel any other way (except by air…quick is better). Well, things are changing (cost of a gallon of gas here in Chicago is now about $3.60 per and climbing) and we could very easily see passenger rail coming back in our lifetimes. As a matter of fact I am leaving shortly for an Amtrak trip from Joliet to Springfield and back today and tomorrow.

…As a railfan and for practical reasons, I too would like to see passenger rail serve our country in a realistic manner since we do have some changing situations in our daily routines…Crowded freeways, and especially interstate routes in and around metropolitan areas and others.

But our gasoline prices have spiraled beyond reasonable now too…Yes, we hear the tired old refinery excuse time and time again…

If it’s that, I’m in favor of our government building some new ones since it seems to be a money making business now anyway, it most likely would be self supporting and relieve the shortage…If that really is the reason for our prices escalating

NOTE: the photo of the rusty bridge WAS posted by AG awhile back.

I “borrowed” it to illustrate “Convicted One’s” point.

well, anyone disagree? Thanks CNW for your support.
