Making a train go 2000mph+ in MSTS

It’s been done, but does anyone know how? I think it has something to do with modifying the XML files on the hard drive, but I’m not sure.

Just to tease you [;)]

If you reply, I will tell you what the program is called [tup]

An interesting “locomotive” that can go several hundered mph. is available on the train-sim.com file library. I think it’s called the Jet Train. TO EDIT ANOTHER ENGINE, open C://Program Files/Microsoft Games/Train Simulator/Trains/Trainset/Engine you want to edit. Open that engine’s .eng file (name of engine.eng) in Notepad or Wordpad and go to the lines that mention engine horsepower and top speed. Increasing these values should allow the trains to go much faster.

Those videos are funny even after the 10 time watching them! Thanks for sharing.

Ummm…I really don’t know how to get it goin’ that fast.

If you look around Youtube you will find many more. I saw this one that had a train working its way up a verticle mountain. When it hit the verticle part, it fell all the way down the mountain. I just wish they would have a better view. There also was this one video that had this person actually staging the crashes. He lined up about 9 passenger trains to collide in a large head-on crash on this one 5 track bridge. Almost all of the cars folded like an accordian and the ones that went flying in the air almost went completly verticle before falling off the sides of the bridge. it was crazy! There was also a video of a guy that was really videotaping a train when right beside him, an open hopper derailed, nearly crushing his legs. then there was–oh you gotta see it for yourself!

I saw that one with the hopper. That would be scary! Alos have you seen the one where a Grain truck when right through a grade crossing and a Train plowed into the a semi. It didn’t even slow the train!

Heres my newest…Making a train go 4000mph= in MSTS

Have fun, I’m still working on a 10,000mph I will get it soon =P

When you go into the eng file and change the top speed, you should also change the power and tractive effort so you won’t accelerate incredibly slowly!

Go into Train Simulator/Trains/Trainset/Train you want to edit.

Open the .eng file ine Notepad or Wordpad, and edit the topspeed and the engine power settings higher, save, them open the engine in MSTS.

Just so you know, www.train-sim.com has a huge number of trains, routes, and other MSTS add-ons in their file library. The quality compared to the default MSTS stuff is unbelievable.
