Making Highway Road Signs

I am looking for some input by chance from anyone who knows materials on how to make highway road signs, like the ones you see all the time on the interstates. I am interested in learning how to make some model-sized ones for a future highway I would like to make for my layout when that time comes. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to make them, it would be appreciated. [:)]

does any one know how to make the post or where i can purchase them for a highway sign?

Can’t help on the sign making, but the Burma Shave link is great!

ctf,

You can go to your local hobby shop and find small wooden dowel materials and small plastic rods. If you get plastic, make sure you ask them to suggest the appropriate cement for the type of plastic (styrene, ABS, etc.).

download the pictures from the above, or get a copy of your local dmv driver handbook; run them through your scanner, size them to fit your scale, print on paper of your choice, cut out, mount on a stick, and plant it on your layout.

Thanks for your help guys. I went to visit a local hobby shop today and gotten alot of useful info, let alone finding pretty much all the materials that I need to make them. Will take alot of time and work, but thats what this hobby is all about…making it happen.
