Not sure if this appeared in the forum before? A 23 year old man tried to beat a train at a crossing with the gates down and lights flashing. A northbound Amtrak hit him traveling 76mph and the police think he misjudged the train’s speed. No kidding! What a shame, and only 23 years old. Happened last night in a city across the bay from San Francisco.

Tragic… I watched a kid down in Cartersville beat a CSX freight, and then a woman tried to stroll out in front of a another CSX freight, but an alert MOW crew wouldn’t allow her to.
Thats one thing I dont miss about the Bay.(I’m from Hayward). My nephew would have 2 older half sisters if one didnt try to beat a Caltrain when she was 11 years old. Its very ignorant to do and very tragic.
That was great for the MOW crew to do![tup]
Definately, she was carrying about six grocery bags and was oblivious to the freight approaching 25 feet away. One of the two MOW members (who was working on the crossing) grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the tracks. She then was about to cuss him out for pulling her when she noticed that: A, the crossing gate was down to her right, B there was a train coming towards her from the left, and C the engineer was holding down the horn on the locomotive now about 5 feet away.
