MARC to launch weekend service Saturday

I always thought it would be nice to have some weekend services out to Harper’s Ferry.

Running trains is cheaper then building more roads.

Gas tax hike to subsidize trains for the few while the roads in the rest of the state continue to fall apart due to a diversion of the highway trust funding into special interests, like this one. When the next bridge comes down, the talking heads will be spending much air time trying to figure out how it happened.

Jeffery Guse, shut the F up; We are sick and tired of your rants. Why do you even bother to post your rubbish on this forum? ENOUGH ALREADY!

Ditto Mel and Mo! I agree 100%!

Mr Guse, we have good, well-maintained roads in Maryland, although they are very congested in the regions MARC serves. MARC trains keep tens of thousands of commuters off those roads every day so they are less congested for the people who do drive. I don’t see how the trains become “special interests” when they serve the public the same as the roads do.

One could just as easily look at the massive brand-new 95/695 northeast Baltimore road interchange and ask why all the money was spent on that “special interest” (local Interstate 95 commuters) when it could have been spent on more commuter trains.

The demand for the few trains MARC will run on weekends has been there for years. This service upgrade is long overdue.

Well said, Mr. Copple. Weekend service on the Brunswick Line would be a nice addition.
