March Coffee Pot, 14 years and still going. Green beer for all those above the Mason-Dixon, green grits for those below.

A cloudy 22 degrees. No snow here but its gonna stay cold all week.

A short visit with Charlie yesterday afternoon. The subject of toy trains did come up.

S.J.

Good morning,

20 with snow just to the south of us. Looks like we will be missed, just fine. [Y] Will be -2 by morning so the drop is in action so don’t feel to bad Roy. [swg]

The rest of the week will be 20 to 30 below normal. [banghead]

No plans for today.

Fife, here is that link for Rich’s layout.

Buckeye when I built the upper loop I got one of these and it came in very handy and is easy to store.

Don, we have a room as well!

Morning. 50, breezy and cloudy. Now they say only scattered showers.

Buckeye, got one simular from Harbor Freight. Actually demo so they sold it cheap. Nothing wrong with it. Use for for train repair/servicing and reloading bench. Glad I got it.

Have a great week ahead.

Later.

Mornin’ all!

Storm is a’comin’, looks like we’re in for 6-8" overnight. I’m sure the governor will declare another State Of Emergency which will lead a lot of schools to close for tomorrow even though this should be cleaned up by rush hour.

Here are the maps as of early this morning:

So Corey and I finished up the shelf in the attic last night: ran out of screws, so ended up taking a short trip to Home Depot for #12 x 1½ wood screws around 8’ish. Anyway, I’m done for a while. Here’s the finished product:

Morning/afternoon folks!

Cloudy, cold, but rain stopped earlier this morning. 20’s tonight. 30’s tomorrow.

NASCAR this afternoon. We’ll see if the rest of the rules chgs to cars/etc have any real impact.

[bday] DJ - Tell Corey Happy Birthday! [bday]

Good afternoon,

Ground is good and frozen with temps in the high teens so I knocked down that leaner tree in the picture I posted with the tractor then cut it up and split it up. Boy it took a long time for the splitter to get to speed with that frozen oil in it. By the time I was done it was just getting warmed up. [(-D]

Going to watch some race and then Chinese fried shrimp on rice tonight. [dinner]

Afternoon all,

I didn’t really want to, but Kay wanted to go to the train show in Orange County today, so I gave in and took her. She even wanted to buy breakfast on the way, so I thought she doesn’t ask for a lot, and should given in since Friday is her birthday. She commented about a couple of engines she thought was really “cute”, but I was able to convince her we didn’t really need them. She reluctantly agreed.

Its kinda rainy and overcast, just a good day to stay inside. So watching the race from Vegas today, kind of a yawner, but Ok. Had an offer to go to Phoenix and Fontana in the coming weeks, but I prefer watching from home.

Thanks a lot for the invite guys, that is really cool! I don’t know where or how far yet, still in the planning process. The thing I like least is the fact that have to go about 400-450 miles before it becomes interesting. That’s one of the bad things about living here. Just alot of desolation before you get anywhere.

Not much planned for this week, need to check out the down spouts, one isn’t working just right. Think some leaves or something is stuck in it. S’pose to be a sunny day tomorrow, then more rain on Tues, so will check it out.

Thanks again for the offers, if I get close would definetly call and stop in for a cup of coffee or something.

Take care all, hope you all arn’t getting hit too hard by this “Atmospheric River”, (aka “Pineapple Express”)

Don, you’re always welcome here! Ya gots my numba! But there is also a lotta desolation between the Dallas area and Raton NM

Don, My wife’s birthday is next Saturday, the 9th! [Y] She helped me down, cut and split a leaner tree today. She is the best!! Sometimes I tell her, NO but she always offers to help and I think she likes the work? Looks bad for the guys in PA the next few days as far as weather. There is no ride worse than from the top of IL to the bottom. Just flat and corn,[(-D]

Good evening all,

Some snow today. Watched Liverpool tie Everton 0-0. Went to Mass as well. Told the priest not to worry about church collapsing because I was there on Sunday. Not much else going on. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hello there,

just haven’t taken the time to post for a couple of days. Got our York badges in the mail yesterday.

Rich … the layout is lookn good.

The snowmaggeden predicted for today turned out to be 5 inches if it doesn’t start snohioing again.

Spent several hours yesterday and today working on bathroom demo at the townhouse. The only ceramic tile left is behind the sink, toilet and radiator. Get them out probably Tuesday. Once they are out of the way I’ll have room to get the tub out.

Got a Skin Doc appointment tomorrow and the Tahoe ECM is out for delivery tomorrow.

Spent last evening with the oldest grandkids.

Best try to sleep.

Prayers for those in need

Morning all.

More snow and colder temps. Spent the day Sunday upgrading the older scale J to 4 chuffs perrevolution using John Will’s Chuff generator board. Nice product!

Take care all.

Good morning from cold Ohio!

Kevin and Chief…Thanks. I think I need an upgrade. My workmate is only 40 years old. I need to still find the pegs.

Don…I will let you find your own way to Deer Ridge Junction in Rocky Mountain National Park where US 36 starts. From there drive east 1381 miles until you see me standing by the road near the Shell Station. I’m standing there now and its cold. How much longer until you show up? [:-^]

Hey, Good Morning!!!

Kev - Thanks for giving Fife my YouTube address…more progress this weekend, Need to add some power drops to the far reaches of the layout, I believe I have the wiring, so I’ll check this over the week or get more wires…

Rob - I can’t find that BIG box with my MTH firehouse…I’ve been throwing boxes out left and right, making the storage a lot better, but just can’t find THAT box.

I did put something very cool on the layout over the mountains…hope you guys can catch that…

Had 4" of snow and slush, dug out the cars this morning and headed to South Jersey where there was almost…nothing. And the Sun is out as well.

Setting up a benefit train show and sale in early November, need to meet with John of the Independant Hi Railers in Edison on Saturday.

Getting busy, so will check back later

Good Morning,

Kev, Your definetely correct not a lot of scenic highways, but is extremely enjoyable for me, it always brings lots of memories back, corn boils, county fairs, etc… Just traveling to neighboring communities for a day. AND a huge appreciation for the “Bread Basket” and heartland of the country.

Buckeye, I really appreciate your enthusiasum ! But just a little concerned regarding the weather forecast in the mid-west. It will probably be a few days before I would get there. So I looked up the Shell station on my GPS, and called and made arrangements for them to have some coffee & donuts available for you. They did say in the event they run out of donuts they always have Cream O’ Wheat, and Grits available. And besides you need to be inside working on the layout.

The forecast I saw for the mid-west is bone chilling, with that Artic cold front coming down, I imagine its going to be too cold to even snow. Be carefull !!

Going to go get busy, lots of errands for the day!

Stay warm!!!

Good morning, Started out COLD! -1 when I got up but the sun has a good angle and it feels good already even though it is only 5 now.

Don as much as I don’t like the flat land I do like the pace out here and where we are, it is the river valley and it is nothing like most of the state. 6 cars at a intersection at the same time is unheard of. [(-D]

Looks like we will use all of the 1,000 gallons on our LP contract this year. First time ever. [:(] So I got the fireplace kicking today and the shed is on low.

I see the wife’s car needs a new sticker for the plate. That is $103.37 here if you order it on line. $101 if you do it at the DMV. What do you guys pay?

Got to get to town later to get a card for wifey’s Birthday this weekend. [;)]

They raised the gas and car tax here, the people got enough signatures to vote to repeal it. Its a lot of money so they spent a fortune to have the repeal fail. I pay $150 for 20 year old car. Newer cars are much more.

The big church I go to theme for this year is I love LA. I do like LA but hate the goverment here with a burning passion.

they passed out free T shirts that say I love LA and Shepherd Church, I heard 10,000 shirts. We have a service on Sat. and 2 on sunday.

it seats 3,500, I go to the Sat. service and my estimate is 3,000 normal, this Sat it was completely full.

We had a lot of volentiers passing out the shirts after the service, I got mine fairly quickly but there was a huge crowd waiting to get their shirts.

Afterrnoon. Sun coming out. 50 degrees suddenly. Sun makes the difference.

Errands and Town Hall this afternoon.

Later.

You really don’t want to know.

Wish the Wife a happy Birthday.

Evenin’ boys. I’m ready for Spring. I was all settled in last night, when Middle Princess called and said she slid out of control in her development, enroute to her nursing shift. FifeDaddy to the rescue, took her up to Cumberland to the hospital, and made it back to my street. And got stuck. After several attempts at my hill, nice neighbor lady said to put the Durango in her yard. Retrieved it this morning once the road was plowed. Never did get to watch the race.

Spent some time in the train room today working on more hard-shell scenery. Plaster cloth strips over a lattice-work of cardboard strips. Really taking shape.

anjdevil - I viewed your entire “series”, and got a good picture of your layout. Now when you say you have a 100 year old house, exactly how old is your roof? I’m recommending you do a little pre-planning, and get something between the rafters. I have a two-fold idea. Since you like working with styrofoam sheets, lets cut some thick white sheets to fit between the rafters, creating some insulation, but also setting the next light effect. Get some more blue rope lighting (I used GE brand, that lasted forever), and attach it along the back edges of your layout, just out of view. With the white styrofoam up, the blue rope lights will create a cool backlit glow, and help give your layout a more finished look (especially on your winter-scape areas). You can gather up a whole “range” of those mountain fronts to place along the back, creating more dramatic effect. Also, for the wall with the single window, cover that with mirrors. It will “lenghten” your layout (I recall seeing this on some of the TM layouts). Keep sharing those videos.
