How can you tell if a Marx 333 or 1829 has a smoke unit?
A look down the smokestack should tell you. If not, taking off the shell should confirm it one way or the other.

If it hasn’t been altered, the 333 with the molded on sunshade over the cab window is the smoker.
The other engine I don’t know how to tell from a picture.
Down the chimney look as noted above, if you have the engine in hand.
