Hello! This is my first time on your chat forum, so please be gentle!
I have out in my hobby room (shed with lights and a 4x8 n-gauge layout)
A box of MARX O gauge trains. They are what I would call "toy " trains .
They are not very detailed,plastic,"cheap"trains.
My question is are they worth holding on to? Or as a freind of mine said, are they dumpster filler?
I rather like them because of their crudity.Like the trains were when I got started in this hobby.
Please do’nt think I’m strange because I model N gauge (It started when I was in the NAVY, little spaces.ect.) and own O scale trains! Things change!
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

You might try posting the question in the Classic Toy Trains Forum also available under the umbrella of Trains Forums. Just go to the Forum Index.
A more general answer is there is undoubtedly value to the Marx equipment. Because of it’s lesser presence in the train market the stuff tends to be less abundant. I know there are Marx collectors.
Don’t think I send them toward the dumpster.

Hey Dale; Thanks for the reply!!!
I kinda figured that they were worth something, I thought he was telling me that because he thought they were “collectable”. Seems I was right!(maybe).
I love taking them out, setting them up on the floor and just running them.
There is a certain crude joy to watching the “junk trains” going around and around!
Thanks again!
Roy.
Roy,
You might want to take a look at this site. Glendale, WV is one of the places where Marx had a factory. I don’t know anything more than what you can read at the web site but it may produce some leads or information.
