Meat Packing Plants

I want to model a mid-1950’s meat packing plant on my layout. I have a building kit that will be suitable. Does anyone know where I can find photos of the old Swift square sign from that era or any photos really of meat packing plant signs? I googled images and found tons of photos of old wrecked buildings but no signs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know the sign your talkign about but I couldn’t find it either this was the only thing I came up with that might look ok

Thanks. That type of sign would look great on the side or even better on the side of some other building on my layout to sort of tie things together. I’ll keep looking. Branchline makes a building kit with the sign I want but I’m trying to use a Walthers false front kit for the space that I have.

See if you can buy the deal kit from Branchline, it ain’t exactly honest but you can say you messed your up and need another one or maybe you can copy it off their prints and use one of those decal sheets for your printer Walthers sells I have had some decent results using that stuff.

You mean this one

Swift Meats

What I would try is either cut & paste the Swift to a new file and try and print form that or better yet try and match the font and just save it in a word doc. and then print that on decal paper

Holy Cow!! Branchline trains structure kits!! Talk about sticker shock.[:O] OK I’ll go back to my room now.[sigh] BILL

Thanks but not exactly honest really isn’t my style.

If it is there I can’t see it.

I must have deleted it form the site where I was keeping it but there it is.

A long shot but there have been hard cover books collecting old advertisements from various decades (1960s, 50s, 40s etc) and while pricey you might find what you are looking for there.

Or at a rummage sale or flea market where they sell old Life or Look magazines. Swift was a major advertiser in its day. This site has some Norman Rockwell ads for Swift that include the logo, way too small to copy, but if you could find the original …
