Does anyone know anything about these models? I have Two HO freight cars. A UP reefer and a PC open top 4 bay hopper car. I got them years ago at a musem in Orlando FL. They have a nice level of cast on detail and run very well. I paid about $3 per car. Thank you in advance.[:D] P.S. The address on the box is 350 E. Tioga St., Phila. PA. 19134. They do a european range including the TGV’s.
The newer stuff is very good but the older stuff is very crude. especially the mechanisms.

Mehano is apparently a major Slovenian toy manufacturer. From what I know, their railroad stuff is a bit lackluster, but available cheaply and they do model certain prototypes unavailable from other places (such as the Thalys high-speed train).

I’d pick up one of their Camelbacks just for laughs, if only I could find a distributor in Germany that’d give me a decent price and shipping.
Check with IHC - they seem to offer the Mehano engines, and probably the cars too. They are of “train set” quality - truck mounted horn hook couplers, molded on details, etc.
A chain of grocery stores here in Canada has been offering off and on again Mehano train sets around Christmas time in their “President’s Choice” line. For the most part the sets have included Mehano steam engines dressed up to give the appearance of Canadian engines. Last years set had 4-8-4 #5702 painted in CN colors, with added smoke deflectors and a too-long Vanderbilt style tender. The cars and caboose were lettered for President’s Choice “Mini Chefs” branded items they offer in their stores. The set came with a small power pack and an oval of brass snap track, and was offered for $99.95.
Guess they didn’t sell all that well, as they have been offered at discount prices of $49.95, what I paid for mine. I sold off the cars, track and power pack so the engine cost me about $35.00; IHC ads offer them for around $125.00.
IHC (International Hobby Corporation) locomotives are made by Mehano and are now marked as “Made in Slovenia.” Check their web site at http://www.ihc-hobby.com
