Men claim to find lost Nazi treasure train in Poland

I find this hard to believe. The article mentions great works of art are supposed to be on the train. What are the names of the missing art objects and who are the artists that created them? What was the consists of the train i.e. engine number, car numbers etc.? I think this may be railroading’s Big Foot?

How many records do you suppose the Nazi army created when they were retreating west ahead of the Soviet forces? My bet, somewhere between slim and none.

The existence of a " German Treasure Train" may be simply a “European Urban Legend” ; or maybe not ? If you think it cannot happen these days…Here is an interesting research link on the subject @ http://hitlernews.cloudworth.com/nazi-gold-lake-toplitz.php. With age you learn that sometimes, “Truth may be stranger than fiction”…

Mr Anderson, the German Wehrmacht were well known for generating all kinds of records. After WWII these records came back to haunt the Nazis at the Nuremberg trials. A problem for historians is the sheer volume has no index. So either you have to get lucky or know where to look.
As for a"treasure train" people dream of hitting it rich but rarely find more then dirt and sand.

Man, if this is legit it’s going to be one of the most incredible historic finds of this still-new century. That’s if it’s legit. Let’s wait and see.

If this train full of treasure happens to be true, just standby for the hornets nest full of lawsuits from the various groups that will claim the booty.

Doesn’t everybody remember - Burt Lancaster removed a rail and stopped the train.

Burt Lancaster’s train was in France, not Poland.

Wouldn’t it be something if the “Amber Room” is part of the cargo?

I would think that any train hidden in those collasped Project Riese tunnels would be submerged in water.

There were valuable works of art that dissapeared during WW2, but I doubt that a closed off tunnel would preserve them. Lots of valuables were taken from Jewish families. I could imagine a book, TV or movie deal related to this that could be lucrative enough that getting 10% isn’t necessary.

The bigger the lie. The more believable it becomes…

Wow! Another version of Monuments’ Men, if true.

How long before we see this on the “History Channel?”

In 1945, Its just as likely that a buried train could be full of corpses.
