Here is another example of wasteful public transportation. Metro North is spending $67 million dollars of taxpayer money to put PTC on the Port Jervis line. The line carries an average of 2,300 riders per day. So we, the taxpayers, are spending $29,130 per rider - none of which will be paid from the fare box.
Give each of these riders five years of free bus tickets and shut down the line.
Your first and second paragraphs correctly report that MNR is installing a new cab signal system on the Port Jervis Line. Therefore, shouldn’t your third paragraph begin with the word “Elsewhere”?
Mr. Nazarow: As I read it, they are replacing the cab signal system with a new one, and then installing PTC on top of it. Two separate events. No “elsewhere” involved.
Its an MTA project so push back the estimated completion date by oh say 5 to 20 years with the associated cost overrun cover ups to fund upper management & contractor bosses needs for having new homes built or remodeling taken care of and the nice expensive car or two for the garage.
