I have been surfin in Googlville for awhile now and I keep pickin’ the wrong streets I guess. I am staying San Clemente for an upcoming RV trip and I want to catch a rdie down to San Deigo. Thanks to my handy Trains Magazine with a Map Of The Month, it apperas the Metro Link and Coaster meet up in Oceanside…
Can I hop off the MetroLink, walk across the station and get on the Coaster in Ocean Side and continue south?
Sorry if this may seem like such a novice question, but living in Phoenix, this whole rail passenger service thing is pretty wild to me. Heck, we dont even have a Amtrak Station here let along rail service.
Thanks for the links. I have been there and couldnt find anything that mentioned Metro Link and Coaster in the same page, let alone paragraph. But you did help me figure on thing out… addresses of the station…
Off the Metro Link Web site…
235 S. Tremont Street
Oceanside, CA 92054
From the SD Coaster web site…
Zone 1:
Oceanside Transit Center, 195 S. Tremont Street,
Oceanside, CA 92054;
So I am guessin they are next each other. Woo Hoo.
I can compare the schedules. I cant wait. Should be a ball.
The answer is yes. You can ride Metrolink to oceanside and then ride the Coaster to san diego. You will need to buy a Coaster ticket at the station (platform machine, I think).
It’s very easy to do, and a small station with a Burger King.
Another option may be Amtrak (assuming that they still stop in San Clemente).
As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, there is only one station in Oceanslide, so you won’t have to worry about long walks. You will want to pay attention to schedules as both Metrolink and Coaster service is primarily away from O’side in the morning and towards O’side in the evening.
