Sounds good.
This is a great idea! I wish them all the luck to make this improvement — way to go!
I agree that it would be a great idea and a definite boon to business in the area.
Although that seems like an awesome idea, when I look at the map, I don’t see why they can’t just interchange traffic with the Ann Arbor Railway in stead of to NS to carry on to Toledo. That would save almost as much difference while not requiring any rebuild, saving money, and also giving more traffic to the AA. A win-win situation for everybody. But maybe NS would charge more for the double interchange. I don’t know.
Thats great news to hear!
How does that old song go? “The railroad runs through the middle of the warehouse”
17 million for 5.3 miles seems kind of high. The last report I read was to build new railroad costs about 1.6 million per mile. This is a rebuild and I’m sure it doesn’t need to be built to 60 mph. standards. That being said, this can only be regarded as good news for all.
Well that was a silly place to build a warehouse.
Dobronski again shakes up the status quo in a positive way!
If completed it would be one of the best moves that has been made in years.

This is a “no-brainer.” Saving several days transit time by building 5 miles of track ? What are we waiting for. It would be worth NS’s while to loan them the money to do the work like they have with Pan-Am Southern.
It sounds like an economically justified project, but wait until the NIMBY crowd, the Enviro-Nazies, and a whole host of lawyers get into the act. It will likely go up in smoke despite being such a good idea. More power to the railroad if they are able to actually pull it off.
I live in Adrian and pass through Ottawa Lake frequently and always wished that the track would one day come back through. How awesome to finally see a dream come true!!! Now to get the western connection back to Hillsdale running again. Good job Mr. Dobronski

Hard work pays off…
Jim, your idea sounds good, but the interchange track between the Annie and the former Michigan Central across Main St. in Ann Arbor was severed years ago. I do recall another portion of rail line that ran east of Ottawa Lake towards Lambertville until the late 1960’s and actually crossed US23 a few miles north of the Ohio line. shortly after the US23 freeway was built, the line was abandoned.
