Micro-trains special car series - excuses to run them?

Hi all,

I’ve just purchased one of the Micro-Trains N scale ‘state car’ series - California - and I’m a bit stumped on how I can justify/provide an excuse for runnning it in a regular train. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance,

tbdanny

Okay, how about this-- “It’s my railroad, I wanna run it. You don’t like it-- build your own.”

Would that work?

Or how about the California State car to carry all those I.O.U’s to the taxpayers for distribution.

I’m not sure I’m being very helpful here… [(-D]

It’s actually quite simple. Place the car on the tracks, couple together with a few others you’d typically run, and have a loco pull them around your layout. Still too hard? Take three shots of vodka and repeat until the results are more desirable. [:D]

More alcohol may be necessary upon discovering how much value was lost when you took the car out of the factory sealed box. [:O]

Or in celebration when you discover how much FUN you’re having! Especially in ignoring convention and doing your own thing… (we’re such incorrigible subversives [:D] )

How about this-- let it be the car designated by the citizenry in which to stuff the Legislature when they run 'em outta town on a RAIL !! [(-D]

It’s a car painted up to help promote tourism in Califionia. Arnold came up with the idea while cruzin Van Nuys Blvd with his wife in his Hummer. He/she decided to have all the public schools submit entries and the winning design won free pizza for a day. [dinner]

I have 8 of these, all diferent states. I think they are interesting and a talking point on a layout. Besides I use them on a switching layout. I have some cards with each car on and mix them up. Then make the train up with the cars in the order of the cards.

Use them however you like to have fun!

It contains parts for the Bullet Train that California is going to build from LA to San Francisco. They did some marketing studies, and decided that having a rail car advertising California was the best way to promote their rail transportation initiative.

So far, there are no parts, of course, because they spent their entire first-year budget on marketing studies and the box car, plus administrative costs.

Easy…Here’s my method…I would buy 2 more of those cars,3 baggage cars,a passenger car converted to a theater car (any chair coach will work) and a observation…

Now you have a train that is touring the state for its160th year anniversary…

Put 4449 at the headend and you have a winner.

I think Northern \ needs to hire your alter ego. That’s probably the best idea I’ve ever heard for hose cars.

Myself, I have my own car company for all the convention cars I have that don’t belong to a known road, like WSOR’s. You could also go that route. Or, something small like California Northern could claim the car.

I don’t have any State (or Prefecture) cars (the JNR didn’t go for that stuff) but I do have a few items of rolling stock that shouldn’t be in the consist of every other freight train. My solution is to keep them in one of my cassettes, which is occasionally connected to the cassette dock in the Netherworld. Then the train of super-speed reefers and container cars, with a DD51 diesel-hydraulic at one end and a green (high speed) caboose at the other, makes ONE run either up or down before returning to its cassette, where it will remain until next time.

Seeing the same car all the time could get old. Seeing it for a few minutes every other week or so…

(Yes, I do try to operate at least two timetable hours a day, every day. There are some advantages to being completely retired.)

Hmmmmm—

I wonder how many wise-a** comments Danny would have recieved if his first State car had been for Pennsylvania, Missouri or Texas? [:P]

Just RUN the darned thing, Danny. After all, you paid for it! [;)]
