The big limitation for shelf layouts is our reach. It means we can’t really go beyond 30" wide. However, with this topside creeper, it looks like you can extend your reach out to 48" or even 60 inches comfortably. It adjusts between 48 & 72 " and will fold up to be stored under the layout. Anyone use one?
Chip,
I have used similar working on trucks/vans and they are comfy when you are in an impossible situation. I think the topside would work fine so long as the front wheels can get under the layout as needed without hitting the wall or some other obstruction. J.R.
Hey CHIP, that is the cat’s meow !!! That is a great answer for those who want to have a 4x8 layout up against the walls…all you will need is enough room to get this down the center isle and the feet under the table. I wonder what the weight limit is on it? I can see some “porker” kneeling or laying on the top pad and “crash” …there goes the layout, the cars, the nice new steamer…[:O]
Hey Spacey Mouse.
Advance Auto Parts has the creeper for $169.95, if you have one in your area of PA. It can be ordered online as well.
I plan on getting one to work on some parts of the layout put in 20+ years ago back when I knew everything and didn’t need other peoples advice…[#dots]
Dick, they are rated for 400lbs. Made for us MRs don’t ya think?
We (the club) just got one. It is nice. If you can afford it, and have deep/high scenery, it’s a great tool.

RAY: I’m saved !!! I weigh 180 in summer and 190 in winter, so I guess I won’t stress it too much.
BTW, is the Advanced Auto Parts creeper “just” like this one? The MicroMark one has a tool pouch, adjust to various heights, a soft pad to lay our gut on, etc…lol
