Midwestern where is it. 8-4 (no pictures)(puzzle solved)

How about something familiar, yet different? Chad had the Western where is it, based on his (super) photos. I don’t have photos, so all I can give you is clues, and answers to “yes” or “no” questions.

Clue: This is was the intersection of The Rock Island, Illinois Central, Great Northern, Milwaukee Road, and Chicago Northwestern (actually, the Omaha Road-I think)at one time.

Who want to offer a guess, or a “yes” or “no” question?

Somewhere in Chicago?

no[:)]

Hey man, shot in the dark. I don’t live in the midwest.

Hmmm…this is interesting. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say someplace in Iowa, and I’d guess the northern part of it. That’s a complete shot in the dark, though. I’ll be watching this one with interest.

Some place in Iowa? [:)]

Council Bluffs

not Iowa

Albert Lea Minnesota?

not Albert Lea

AHA! but it is someplace in Minnesota?

not Minnesota

I’ll make an educated guess of Omaha, Nebraska.

not Omaha Nebraska. Remember, you can ask “yes” or “no” questions-but not anymore tonight. Good night.

How about Iowa Junction, outside Peoria, Illinois?

Sioux Falls, SD

Yes, I’ll agree with Sioux Falls.

I was first thinking of Le Mars, IA where the Great Northern entered trackage rights on the Illinois Central. Put that in your “Gee Wiz” file. The GN running over the IC?

This is a fascinating idea–the key is going to be a location served by both GN and IC. I could look it up, I’m sure, but will let it get solved by others–this time!

Ding! ding! We have a winner! Because of the lay of the land, the railroad lines literaly crossed each other all in a 2-3 block area of downtown. How did you figure this ou deepspire?

I’m guessing the Great Northern never went to Peoria.
