While on Active duty, I was a Petroleum Officer in the Army. We ran tank storrage farms with 3M [3000] tanks, 6" combat pipeline and pumps, and 10,000 gal. collapsible bladders. We provided Mogas, DF2, and JP4 resupply, to include hot refuel. A new Petroleum Depot diorama has begun on the layout. The Aristo Club [Army] car will join this display as it grows in detail.
Why? Now that I’m 2 years into retirement I can’t stand to look at anything military. Why would I want to be reminded of 22 wasted years? I’m into my hobby to escape, not remember.
In any case, you’ve done a good job and I look forward to seeing more of your project and layout. Post more pix when you get the chance…
no. 4 congresional inquiries later and I’m no closer than I was the day I retired. Never thought the military would blow off congressional inquiries. I hope they don’t think I’m going away, I can’t until I get my DD 214 at a minimum. I should probably just keep the keys, someday they will notice…
Wow, and was peeved when I had to wait around for several hours for my discharge because everyone on the CG Station got called out to search for a jumper.
Since the last post, several changes have been made. A gravel [ballast] retaining burm around the tanks, a 5000gal M972 tractor/trailer and floodlights for night operation were added. Pictures of night operations are to be taken tomorrow night during the layout tour for the NMRA Convention here in Wichtia.
