Would a oil tanker be good for a modern milk tanker truck ? I have looked and looked but I cant find a modern milk tanker truck . I was going to use a boley oil tanker truck . So if any one has any info on this I will be Thankful. PThank fulajama

What do you mean by modern? If you are interested in the milk industry, I suggest getting the model railroader’s guide to indudustries along the tracks 2. I have it and it is very good.

By modern I mean 2000s

The milk tank trucks you see here in Wisconsin – and you see plenty – have the general shape and size of an oil tank but differ in a variety of details as you can see here

They invariably look shiny and clean, if nothing else then for PR purposes.

Herpa has some tank trucks that look right to me, again with a bit of redetailing. Boley has some shiny tank trucks that would certainly be stand ins if nothing else. i think the main thing is to hold off on the weathering and the dull coat. Put another way, if the milk tank truck and the septic tank truck are pulling up to the same farm at the same time, the viewer should be able to tell the difference very quickly.

Some over the road bulk milk tankers don’t have the back door compartment on them. Like oil tankers, but most have the dischacharge outlet in the back, nothing underneath like oil trucks. Clean stainless steel bodies, some had only one man hole on top.
