milwaukee road cupola caboose

Does anyone have an idea where I can acquire either a ready-built, kit, or plans for the early wooden slant roof cupola caboose used by Milwaukee Road before they were replaced with bay window versions?

Thank you.

John Conover

John, I know of no RTR or kits for this (yet). You may want to check with the Miliwaukee Road Historical Society. What scale are you modelling?

Is this the caboose you are refering to?

I checked the American Model Builders (Laserkit) site and they are not looking at doing one in their upcoming projects. You may able to find one in brass.

Hello.

LaBelle Woodworking makes a laserkit for a MILW Tall-Coupla caboose. This is not the caboose that is at Mid-Continet in North Freedom, WI. The kit is of a caboose which was at Camp Webb in Wautoma, WI, later restored and moved to Kettle Moraine, WI, and sold to a gentlemen in Janesville who has it in his back yard.

Silver Streak makes a wood/cardboard kit for a rebuilt wood caboose with bay-window painted in the original silver paint.

Dear Phil,

Thank you very much for your response. I did a little more homework and found that Jeff Kehoe published a book on the wooden caboose and which is marketed through the Milw Rd Historical Association. This may be of interest to you. Thanks again for effort.

John

Dear Rick,

This is indeed the prototype I want. I did find that Jeff Kehoe has a pertinent book which is marketed through the MRHA. Thank you very much for your help.
