Milwaukee Road

Did anyone ever work for them??

Do you have pictures??

Thank you.

No, I didn’t work for them; the MILW was a thing of the past before I came of working age. But I do have a couple of good pictures of MILW steam power at the address listed below.

Howdy, Yes i worked for the Milwaukee, hired out in 1971 and now i’m retired off the CP after 33 years of service. I’m always looking for photos of the milwaukee and have some. I collect milw. ho engines and cars and anything that had to do with the milw. I’m hoping that someday someone will model the famous S2 steam engine in milw. detail with DCC and sound, so far nobody has.

Ya I’ve often wondered why model makers don’t make a point of modelling restored engines. The engines would appeal both to steam-era modellers, and to modern-era guys who want to be able to run a prototypical steam excursion train now and then for fun.

I was not of working age at the time but, I do know a lot about the railroad and I do model it. I also have some pictures for you. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the electrics but I have a few shots of those and a couple of diesel engine shots.

Here’s a branch line view from 1974 at Viroqua, Wisconsin.

For anyone interested here is a great documentation of Lines West as they appear today. Albeit it’s a bit depressing to see it’s still rather interesting, the author did an excellent job on the project.

As you said it’s rather depressing [sigh]. Great pics though…

Also, below are a few very interesting videos shot on Lines West for those who haven’t seen them:

Great videos! [tup]

Perhaps. According to this study done by the State of Washington just released this past December, the Ellensburg - Lind segment of the main line, roughly 110 miles, could be rebuilt to relieve congestion on the BNSF main line over Stampede Pass.

what in the world does the 2nd amendment have to do with it. very puzzled.
