Hello, Does anyone know what the add-on pieces are for that are included in the packaging with the bus? They are in a little seperate plastic envelope. What are they? Thank you.
Not meaning to be flippant there bostonboxer, but if you can’t open this little packet and spread things out onto a cookie sheet and, with the help of an IPB, identify the majority of these parts then I would recommend that in the future you confine yourself to items that have rtr in their description.
those are mirrors, The holes are pre drilled You just stick them in, I added a touch of glue to keep them in place. Also Mine came with one set of extra mirrors, I don’t know why.
Oh and by the way, To those who dont Know, There isn’t an IPB in the package and no explanation of the parts either.
No Problem, As for the snow. New Hampshire has beat the Hundred plus record for snowfall as of today, after our 115.2" of snow for the winter season. That has us with highest snowfall in a winter season in well over 100 years and it’s only the third time we’ve reached 100" since 1900!
I’m glad somebody else posted this because I had exactly the same question and there are no instructions. If this thread hadn’t been started, I would have done it. I love these new buses. They are perfect for my era and will look great with the bus terminal Walthers introduced last year which I already own but haven’t built yet. I picked up two of them when I they finally appeared at my LHS long after they had been announced and a couple of days later, the 3 I had back ordered through Micro-Mark arrived. This makes for a nice fleet for the bus terminal.
The new PD-4103 bus is one of the best CMW models ever. It’s slightly too long (about 6 scale inches), but the width is right on and the height seem to be very good. I have heard some complaints about the wheels and tires, but I found them to be quite acceptable.
Some people also complain about the mirrors. However, the ones CMW supplied with the model are correct; they are simply one of the versions offered by GM.
When you are ready to get inside to add people, it’s a very simple process.
the front and rear bumpers pull straight out, and their tabs hold in the chassis floor, with the bumpers removed, the chassis will fall right out.
the floor is held in by several bump/catches around the body, inserting a couple of toothpicks to spread the shell will free it.
that’s it, the floor and seats are molded in tan/leather color, and while very basic, a little highlight paint and adding the amputated driver/passengers will make this a showpiece.
the floor does also have the full staircase on it, so someone more brave and steadier of hand than I could cut the door to model it open.
I considered adding a LED and some fibre optic line to fire up all the lights, but this thing has about 4 million lights on it, and would take about three miles of fibre!!!
I just did a GOOGLE search on this. I found a couple of pictures and it confirms what someone told me on another forum. The mirrors are wrong for the earlier models but can be corrected for the later models. It looks like if you get a little bit of greyhound blue paint you can correct the mirrors.
I got one in HO scale about 10 years ago. I still have it. I think Busch made it. I still see some from time to time at a train shows. I almost snagged one about a year back but the guy next to me had a quicker hand
Not sure if you know but Athearn just announced it will be releasing the Flixible Clipper, there were pictures of it on some of the Forums. Not sure if it will measure up to the Classic Metal Works but it will be close I am sure.
This is the same as the UP bus I posted on a while back http://cs.trains.com/forums/1411052/ShowPost.aspx . It’s easy to add figs and there are a few pics and other comments by forum members there.[:)]
The Athearn model with all of the detail sure is a vast improvment. I wonder what the street price on that bus will be. No matter will purchase a few when they are released.
This is good, now if only Athearn or someone would produce the 1960s-70s Flixible “New Look” transit bus. This was the model that competed with the GMC Fishbowl. [;)]
I have a hunch the Busch Fishbowl probably precludes a model of the Flxible unless perhaps it’s an inexpensive diecast. The look is too similar for most people. Besides, there are a lot of buses out there needing to be modeled.
