Mini Micro Motor

just found a tiny little motor

any suggestions for an application of such animal

dont think it needs very much juice

looks like it was a vibrator of some sort

Here is one I have. I am thinking about powering some MOW trucks. They are 9 volt motors so I won’t have to step the voltage down much.

hmmm I think you got me beat there

yours looks smaller

nice for a test car or rotate a beacon???

Those are vibrating motors made for cell phones and pagers. They have been offered for a few years from surplus outlets such as All Electronics in Van Nuys, California. Current prices are $1.25 each; 10 for $10; or 100 for $75. A motor similar to this seems to be the core item in the new Flea switch machine.

All currently has two available at http://www.allelectronics.com as catalog numbers DCM-204 and DCM-255. Both are made to operate on 1.5-3VDC.

Oops, I didn’t type fast enough – both are sold out at All Electronics. Different versions appear in every catalog, so they’ll no doubt soon have more in stock.

Another possible surplus source is Goldmine Electronics in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mine came from goldmine. I was also thinking of using a couple in a traction motor type of configuration to see how it would work. A buddy here at work is going to use one to rotate a beacon on a G scale engine and posobly “ring” the bell on an engine as well

You’ll probably end up spending more money modifying it for use than just buying the right thing in the first place. Those motors have virtually no low speed performance or torque.

I think someone here posted a photo of one on top of a windmill. It would make a pretty fair representation of a Jacobs wind turbine generator.

If you need a small motor with a bit more power, you might try here:

These are 6 volt motors, 10mm long by 6mm in diameter. They’d be a better choice for traction motors/underfloor drives, methinks.
