Dear Members:
I am a film maker who is shooting a documentary movie about the holocaust for college aged students. I would appreciative any insight on my query.
I have to either build a miniature model (with German steam engine and cattle cars/modified cars) or find a museum/location where such a set up exists and get permission to film it.
I live in Maine, USA and am willing to travel in America to shoot this footage, which must look authentic (trains and European countryside). If not, I will have to built it from scratch and would appreciate any information as to sites that would explain the nuances involved with creating this.
LGB makes locos and cars that would be correct for this project.
I don’t know what your buget is, these can be a little expensive to buy out-right.
Locate a local large scale club in your area and see if anyone is modeling German (DB, DR). It is very popular and should be easy to find.
Check LGB’s website for dealers in your area to see what is avaliable.

There’s a club member out here in Denver who models WWII German railways, and has an extensive collection of well detailed models which should be very suitable for your needs, as well as myriad German military models and other buildings. He’s also got a well landscaped garden railway to use as a background.
E-mail me privately, and I’ll get the two of you in touch. (click on the “e-mail” icon below)
It will likely be May or June before the railway’s cleaned up from the winter, but since you’re in Maine, it will likely be May or June before you can actually clear your driveway.[:p]
