Would anyone know of a HO scale club in the Minot, ND area? I’m moving there in the next few weeks and would like to find a place to run and operate my equipment.
Thanks,
Scott

Welcome to the forum, Scott! Good to have you aboard!
Sorry, I wish I could help you out with that. I checked the map and the closest “big” city near Minot is Bismarck, which is about 110 mi. due south. Looks like two lines cross one another in the middle of town though. (That might make for some nice railfanning.) With ~41K population, there ought to be someone who is also interested in MRRing.
Hmmmm…I just poked around on the web, Scott, and found the following:
The Railroad Museum of Minot - If you click directly on the photo of the museum in the link you can get a street view of the museum and the surrounding area. Looks like a nice size building.
Souris River N Scalers - Looks like they may meet in the museum?
Well…maybe not your scale, Scott, but…it’s a start. And maybe there are a couple of the N-scalers who are really closet HO-scalers. [(-D] Keep us posted…
Tom
I knew a couple of guys who had been stationed up there in the Air Force and they said the only thing HO stood for in that neck of the woods was Heavy Overcoat!
We had a guy in the club over in Allemania in the early '70s who had been stationed somewhere up there but I can’t remember whether it was at Minot or Grand Forks but wherever it was at he had belonged to a club while up there.
I think that there is a club in the Bismarck area. LION has been up to Minot this past month, but he was not there to look at trains. But if you do move to Minot, then you must make a trip to Richardton to visit the Route of the Broadway Lion. (It is only a short distance as we measure distances in North Dakota–even if I did decline to make the round trip in one day–)

Hi Scott, Welcome aboard,
There is a Model railroad store at 2112 North Broadway, in Minot. It is called Aeroport Hobby Shoppe, give them a call, they would know if there is a club or not. their number is 701-838-1658.
Good luck with that. I’m not into clubs myself, but I can see the benefit of them in some circumstances.
Johnboy out…
yup… LION has been to Aeroport, he does not have the selection that Dave’s has in Bismarck, but Dave is quitting the business sometime this month. I’m not sure I’ll get back to Bismarck before he pulls the plug. He sure has a nice layout in there.
