Model Buildings - holding diagonal porch supports vertical?

My model building came to a halt when I needed corner clamps, so plan to buy them for N scale, but I bouught several with warehouse loading docks with covered overhangs sticking out from the building sides, with several angled supports to glue to the roof part and building wall. I’m wondering the best way to hold 4 or so vertical on the upside down roof top so they can all be aligned and attached to the building at once. These are on several Con-cor models, the printshop, warehouse/machine shop, shipping receiving, no holes with nubs. Its almost like I need to make a jig with multi-alligator jaws, or something similar, bees wax or ??

Liked several buildings that as RR structures, I didn’t want, but a car shop repurposed as a brewery or warehouse/mfg. facility, with office area tacked on the front seems a better use, visited the the Bud brewery, glass walls, huge tanks of beer.

Anyhow, what do other builders use to hold stuff in mid air? Many buildings like that are overhangs of the main roof, not tacked on with supports.

Best! Tom

Since I started my new foam-based layout, I find I use small blocks of scrap 1" foam for lots of things, including temporary supports as you describe. Easy to trim to size or notch to hold small parts like your posts.

you might also want to glue a small piece of styrene plastic to the wall of the building where it will attach to the roof overhang joint…a good square piece of styrene will hold the joint even, level , and will add extra support to the joint when the glue dries…Chuck[:D]

I like the FOAM idea. Lots of different types would work. Make a jig with foam.

I’m visualizing a pole style clamp, maybe with alligator clips, rubber lined, mounted to a clothes pins, along a straight edge. Glue clip to pin, set 4 or more pins on the
hard straight edge.

Want each part held firmly in place while the glue sets. was hoping for other ideas.
