Model Mountain Imports Locomotives. Where do I get these things!?

I’m “in love” with the On30 K-series from MMI. But when I look for them, all I see is “SOLD OUT.” (not shouting) Does anyone know if MMI produces more than just a few of these, or are they all short run? I’m just a paperboy, so it takes me a month or two to acquire the funds for one. How do I make sure I get one?

MMI is a division of PSC, the long-time importer of brass locos. Like brass, the MMI locos are produced to fill pre-orders, plus a few more.

I’m a member of a number of Yahoo narrowgauge lists, but I’m in HOn3 so don’t follow the On3 lists. You might join some of those and see what turns up. I frequently see the excess stock/not picked up orders get offered on these lists. Also, if you have a copy of the Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette, check with the vendors that advertise in it.

They have come and gone at most LHS. The On 3 are very few also, but I do know where one of these is right now. It is the On3 version for the 36" track, not the On30 that runs on HO track that you are looking for.

MMI/ PSC is only importing a small amount but this model will probably be imported again since they were so popular.

I know another dealer that has several of the 2-8-0’s in stock right now, but the K36 models are already out the door.
