Model Power "Gimme" train. What's it worth?

One of the teachers I work with gave me a train set her dad had, a Model Power “Limited Edition” HO train that was a promotion for Carquest auto parts. It’s a SF F-7 with four cars, all advertising something to do with Carquest. It has a little circle of track and a little transformer. I was just wondering if a set like this is worth anything, like more since it was Carquest, less since it was Carquest, or the same as any other old Model Power train set. It’s never been run. I figured if nothing else, I could save it for the grandson to have someday, but I’m hoping it’s worth several hundred dollars!

The HO collector’s market is pretty thin. I haven’t heard of anyone collecting Model Power.
There is an HO collector SIG at http://www.getnet.com/~dickg/nmra/sigs/HOSCHS/HOSCHS.html You might email them, don’t know if they can help.

I didn’t figure it was worth much. I was hoping for one of those miracles that don’t seem to happen very often…oh well, I’ll e-mail them and see what they have to say.

thanks,

mike

Where you may run into someone who would consider this collectable would be in the Automotive area - someone who collects automobile memorabilia. Most value would be still sealed in original shrink wrap - never out of the box. These sorts of “trains” are worth more out of the model railroad area - hence the value to Coke, John Deere etc. sets. The high value ones were the ones produced in limited quanity for something not related to trains - Saturn autos, Maytag corp. etc.
