Hey Guys:

Going to Honolulu in a couple of weeks. Anybody know a good Model Railroad store there?

There are three listed in Hawaii, above under RESOURCES/Find a Hobby Shop, on the thin grey line at the top right of this page. You could also go to Walthers site and see if they have some others listed. Horizon may have a way to look up hobby shops, I’ve never tried them.

Hobby shop, yes. One that sells model railroading supplies, no.

And shipping to Hawaii is expensive.

My suggestion, if you are going to the Dole Plantion to ride the train, skip it. It is a tourist trap, the so called “train” is really small like a theme park imitation. I would recommend the Hawaii Railway Society, which has a GE center cab that was used by the Navy to transport ammunition on the island, and it has a beautiful view of the ocean.

I was in Hawaii back in 2008 in December. I couldn’t find a hobby shop there. Just enjoy yourself on vacation and be careful of your spending it goes fast.
