Great job. I like Steve’s 2nd company house. Keep it up!
Been a busy week for me. Decided to make a scale change from N to HO and have actually “sort of” chosen this layout as my track plan. I say “sort of” because I’m doing a walk in style “waterwings” plan that was designed by Byron Henderson.
It was inspired by this layout but is an alternative to the traditional 4X8. It fits in 8x10 which is the amount of space a 4x8 really takes up when you account for aisles on three sides of the table. Even though I understand why MR chose a 4X8, the plan I’m doing is a much more efficient use of the space. I doubt mine will be an Appalachian coal hauler though!
Layout is coming along just great. I liked the detail with the stairwell and also the modifications made to the company houses. Can’t wait to get to that portion on my layout.
David and crew another nice installment. I was wandering if you could guess or calculate how many man hours went into the construction of this layout. Not including writing or filming just construction.
Very nice layout build…Plenty of tips to use during my layout construction.
Inspiring stuff. I could do with you guys lending a hand back here in New Zealand on my N gauge basement layout. I’ma 70 yr old into year 8 of construction. I run trains but find the really enjoyable part of model railroading in creating a place for the trains to exist in. I must get more creative with the airbrush. Keep up the great work.
Very nice work! After enjoying your magazine for 35 years, it’s great to see fresh ideas still!!
Very nice! It’s starting to remind me of when I was in WV last year now.
If one were to be so inspired by this layout that one tore down his point-to-point and built a version of this layout, would MR be interested in seeing some pics? If so, where would one send them? I’m well along with scenery now.
I’m really enjoying the Virginian Railway articles in the magazine along with this very informative videos. I’ve picked up a lot of great ideas and tips for my layout. I do have one question, can we please have a few more Windows desktop photos of the Virginian?
Kind Regards,
Richard Shirey
I like this video series very much. There are lots of useful tips for both the beginner and expert model railroader.
I think David and the Staff are doing an excellent series with this…very interesting indeed!!! It has helped me so much…thank you!
Best episode yet!
As usual you, guys are having way too much fun at work! At least it looks that way. I was wondering if there are any out takes like on Kody’s Office? Keep having fun, I love watching.
great layout you guys are giving me heaps off ideas for my own layout, keep up the great work. thanks.
It deserves to be said one more time; this is a great video series which is both inspiring and chock full of useful tips and insights. In my humble opinion, ‘The Virginian’ is one of the best project layouts ever. Keep up the wonderful work which you do so very well!
Looking Good!
getting plenty ideas from you . Keep up the good work . UK PRR modeller
You guys sure are talented. It’s a pleasure to view your creations. Have you ever considered putting your project layout videos on a DVD? It would be a perfect companion for the magazine articles. I hope someday to be able to see the Virginian layout in person. I bet it’s gorgeous!
