Just wondering if there are any modelers here from SE Mass to include the upper Cape?
Planning on beginning a new N-scale layout in the fall, New England theme in the late-50s.
Thanks!

The South Shore Model Railroad Club in Hingham, MA, comes to mind immediately. They have an open house coming up the 24th and 25th of March.
They are in HO scale. I’m sure Bob or Paul will be along shortly to say Hi.
The Narragansett Bay Railway and Navigation Company is a free-mo modular group working in ON-30.

The Greenberg show is in Wilmington, MA on March 17-18. The Northeast N-Trak group is always there. There will also be a Hub Division NMRA show on March 10th in Taunton, MA.
There are 3 clubs on the cape. The one above Centerline hobbies in Hyannis is multiple scales, The Cape Cod Model Rail Road club is strictly HO but many members do other scales also. Then there is the Nauset Model RR club in Orleans that is multiple scales with a large N scale layout in progress.

I have been a member of the CCMRC for over 7 years. Our layout is currently being re-wired for DCC. We also do modular shows and our show coming in May. http://trc.trains.com/events.aspx?page=info&eventid=16851
The Nauset club has quite a few members that are also part of our club too.
Welcome to the South Shore and contact me off list for any questions you may have about the local clubs. May I ask where or what town you hail from?
Pete
Thanks for the info. I didn’t know there was a club above Centerline Hobbies.
I’m in Bourne … on the Cape side.
Thanks again!
Yep, we’re here at the South Shore Model Rwy Club…but we’re not really into multi-scales, just HO and HOn3. We’re going to be celebrating our 75th Anniversary next year, and we do have one of the largest model railroad clubs at 10,000 sq. ft. (and one of the finest club buildings) in the USA. I’m afraid we really don’t have too many N-scalers in the club. A couple guys dabble in it, but nothing serious.
I can offer lots of club advice as 19-year veteran of the SSMRC. We’re about as formal as it gets, being incorporated and a 501(c)3 Not For Profit organization. In my experience, when you go to set up your club, either make it rules-based or make it rule-less. Half-way does no one any favors.
Being a NH fan, I will also point you over to the New Haven Railroad Historical & Technical Association’s website at www.nhrhta.org You might find other like-minded N-scalers there, too.
Oh, and our Open House in March is also a Train Show inside the club itself. We usually have around 40 dealer tables.

Thanks for all the info. I’m planning on attending some of the shows coming up.
I wasn’t so much looking to start a club … just seeing if there was anyone local to share ideas with.
Thanks again!
Sorry for throwing this post back up after 2 years … just trying to see if any N-Sclaers have shown up in the SE Mass / Cape Cod area?
Thanks
Mike
Mike.
There are quite a few N scalers in the Nauset club. http://www.nausetmodelrrclub.com/ Not a very large layout but it can run multiple trains.
