modeling in Japan video

I know one of the folks here models tains from Japan, could this be there layout?

Either way it is a great video and great looking track as well. Not sure what kind of Bullet train the white one is but it sure looks good! Pretty sure it would not like my 22" turns either.

Cuda Ken

Photogaphy - 5 out of 5 stars

Music - 3.5-4 stars ( couldn’t make out some of it otherwise went well with the video - would like to know what it was ).

Scenery - 4 stars

Layout - 2.5-3 stars ( couldn’t see enough of it all at once )

All in all, I think I’ll go back and look at it some more.

That music made my ears hurt [:)] An interesting layout but, if I had all that overhead powered equipment, I’d at least make a suggestion that there was catenary overhead.

Cuda, you mentioned that the long passenger cars wouldn’t like your 22" curves, well if I were to run it on my layout with some 18" curves, the train and lots of scenery would be wiped out! Mike

Ken,

That bullet train would indeed have trouble on your layout… …because it’s N scale.

Nice catch, Dave! [bow]

Nice modular work, probably a club running a once in a ??? operating session. [8D]

Actually, there were at least three different series of Shinkansen equipment in that video, the most recent being that yellow set with the inverted coal scoop nose. All running on the same track as a C11 2-6-4T, that 9600 class 2-8-0 and another steamer of non-Japanese origin - which is a good trick, since there’s a 14.5 inch disparity in gauge. [:-^]

Both Mark Newton and I model in HOj, and neither of us is into the kind of operation in the video - proving only that Japanese model railroaders have as much variety to choose from as we Americans do. I would like to be that far along, but reality intrudes on that dream world. (I have yet to lay a millimeter of track that won’t be buried under scenery.)[]

Chuck (modeling Central Japan in September, 1964)

Cool video indeed. I like the way the action was introduced then burst into action with the powerful voices and applause. Reminded me of Cirque Du Soliel or somethin.

UP2CSX, I sort of understand about the music. I use to me a Rock and Roll guy only. I all wised like Long Hair, if you really stop and listen many of the greats like Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky etc there music could easly be done in rock. As far as Opra, I was a long time hold out. Will not say I like it but the singer sure has some pipes. Something like Elves, I only liked say 10% of his songs, but I could see he had talnet. (spell check)

I listen to about everthing from DC/ AC to Bach. One of my favroits is Bach Brandeburgisches Konzert Nr 2 F-dur. I play it when I have a good train day like the last few weeks. Most of you would know it as Master Pices Theather them.

OK, on the N-sale, I am stumped. How did you folks catch it was N-scale? Was it the turn outs motors? They did look a little odd to me. Or was it the simple fact the trains where not made in HO?

Bach Lover Ken Posting Again

Chuck knows better than most what Japanese models are available in N as opposed to HOj. Dave V. is obviously knowledgable, too. Anyway, you’ve only got to look at them to see they’re N - the couplers alone are a dead give-away.

Cheers,

Mark.

(another HOj modeller.)

The rail profile is a dead giveaway… It’s Code 80. Much of it is Kato Unitrack.

Also, in the comments, someone asks if it’s N. The user says that yes, it is.
