I would love to spend much more this year but school is expensive and I don’t have a lot of money to spare so sadly I can’t spend a lot. If anyone is looking to sell any N scale CSX locomotives in NY3 or NY4 paint (Atlas or Kato) please E-mail me my current roster is small and i wi***o expand it.
I’m going to build a room 35 ft x 15 ft for a HO layout in the new year. This will cost me heaps. Fortunately I have about 350 ft of track and 36 sets of points (turnouts as you call them) plus 30 engines and a couple of hundred pieces of rolling stock, so I will probably only need another few hundred feet of track. I now have to decide whether to go DCC or not.
Anyhow, Merry Xmas to all who read this.
Davo. from Down Under.
I will spend less money on the hobby ths year (2004), but I think I’ll spned mor TIME on the hobby this year.
Made a bunch of purchases in 03, that need completion in 04.
I am unsure as we will have to wait and see what the modelling world will bring us. My layout is constantly work in progress. There is always something new to do and we never know what the manufacturers will bring us
I will be spending more, the room for my little kingdom is almost finished, and soon I will be starting my new layout. I saved what I could from my last one, and have been adding to my collection while I did not have a layout, but the major expense will be lumber and track. I will be spending a lot more time on my railroad and a little less on watching the real ones, spent 3 years planning it, now it is time to start construction.
MORE [:D] MORE [:D] More This year the big expense is the major overhaul and expansion of the layout — Plus the expansion needs more trains to go with that [:D] [:D]
I plan on spending more. I am really getting into the N scale now and am starting to enjoy my current layout. Now that I have had a chance to see what is out there I will be building a new and better setup.
After spending like mad over the past few years, assembling a roster of high-quality steam engines and freight cars, I’m finally at the point where I don’t NEED anything else, besides the odd bucket of scenery material or bundle of flextrack. I’ll be focusing on finally building my home layout this upcoming year or two, so the spending will go down considerably!
More - lots more. With benchwork almost done, it’s time for the expensive stuff.
Purchases in 2004 depends on the new products offered. My modeling period is 1955 in the Southeast which limits what I buy. Hopefully 2004 will be as productive for me as 2003 was - a great year.

I have purchased all I need to conduct my projects for the upcoming year.
I am a very selective shopper when it comes to my trains and layout. Mostly
what I will spend is from the Terminal Hobby catalog and BOOKS. I have some
things to get done before making more purchases . I just need to find the time
to commit to them. So, I will more than likely spend less, I HOPE.
This is an interesting topic . I’m sure that the marketing people can use this to increase corporate revenues . If you can work this into the consulting engineering field , I’d like the know how ! Until then I guess we can all keep plugging along .
Merry Christmas , - Phil

Spent a bundle this past 11.5 months on kits and materials. Now is the time to sit back in front of the fire and spend a quiet winter building, building, building. Probably will spend more on glue.
When you find some good deals and have fun at the shows the “to do” stockpile builds up, but what good is it unless you put it “to use!”
Probably about the same. Model CN/CP and sure wish someone would come out with some matching cars for Kato’s beautiful N Via P42…then I’d be sure to spend more money. So goes life!!

spent too much this year, weaver 2-8-0 tmcc, k-line H-24-66 tmcc, k-line 4-6-2 tmcc, mth 4-6-0 2.0, 2 sets of k-line passenger cars, the PHOEBE SNOW and LACKAWANNA LIMITED are back on the rails again, still need a 2-8-2, and a 4-6-4, and a 4-8-2, and a 4-8-4, need a bigger layout now, only have two tracks, need 2 more. anybody selling any of the above steam in o scale, please send response
Of course MORE, it never goes down, even if i try to save $$, i still find I spend more each year.
I’m going to have to cut back on model railroad expenditures during the coming year because I have spent over $1,000 on HO-scale locomotives alone in the past 3 months, plus nearly $500 on G-scale locomotives in the same time frame. That’s getting to the point of being more than my income, so something’s got to give.
