I have been collecting a lot of freight cars for my n scale collection. The problem of having too much stuff, from too many different eras has been a bit of a pain in the rear end to me.
I have recently changed to HO and although I only have two locos and like six cars, I don’t want to have anything that is not era specific. I picked BNSF as my road, and being in Pittsburgh, it is not real easy to come by stuff at the local shops.
Is there any way for me to find on line, a list of modern cars that would be ok for my new layout with BNSF. (i.e. pre-merger and post paint jobs. as well as private owner equipment)
Also, I baught a proto 2000 P&LE Gon to see what the kit was going to be like. Does anyone know a site that list what Life Like has released inthat series? (Loco’s and rolling stock)
Thanks
Mike
It’s not a list, but I’d suggest you take a look at www.railpictures.net - there are plenty of train photos there that should enable you to build a coherent fleet. Bear in mind that not all cars will be seen in all areas - they will be representative of local industries. Hope this is of help!
thanks
Well even today you can see cars from the 70s and some in road names earily then that…I live by the NS I still see cars lettered for the Norfok & Western as well as SOO Line.,Southern,MP,SP,C&NW and such like. and even few DT&I( 86’Auto part boxcars mostly) So yes, some up close research is needed.
Good Luck!
