Monogram HO Big Boy

Does anyone know if the wheels turn on this model and if it has the ability to go around turs like a powered locomotive?

I have two of these. They make a good add to scenery but the ones I have won’t work running on the track. I didn’t put them together with running them in mind though but maybe with some weight added and care taken when putting them together they work on track.

Hmm, I wonder if you could somehow put a motor in one…

You could mount the shell on a scratch built, Rivarossi or Bowser chassis if you want a functional locomotive.

Or you can store your space motors inside the Monogram body,

The Monogram chassis is not strong enough to support a drive train, nor are the rods, axles, etc.

I have also one from Con-Cor, its the same as that one from monogramm. The wheels of the engine are fixed, only that ones from the tender rotate, bud very bad. Its really only usable as scenery, if you will make the work to power it, you can also buy a new one from rivarossi. you would have more fun with that.

Bowser offers a kit for the tender to be used with other locos:

I just thought it would be cool to put it at the front of a train with a working locomotive behind it do it’d look like it’s pulling.
