Hi to everyone!
I almost finish another brass project.
This is an mix caboose, I say mix because is a Weaver shell, with atlas trucks and handmade brass frame.
enjoy the pictures.
Andre.
Andre,
That’s fantastic. Since it’s a one-of-a-kind model, you should be able to get at least several thousand dollars for it, judging from that Shredded Wheat boxcar on the recent post.[:D]
Actually, I’m going to (coincidentally) be doing a very similar project soon for my R/C battery car, which is an MTH boxcar that hauls my speed controller and battery around in it.
The frame in the MTH boxcar is made from a very hard metal. I’m swapping it out for an aluminum chassis so that I can more easily cut holes in the flooring for the toggle switches that power up the motor batteries and also power up the light batteries.
One thing I noticed that MTH and other standard chassis seem to do is to make an indent or depressing directly above each truck. I believe the reason for that is so that the truck comes up closer to the chassis and so that the boxcar or other rolling stock doesn’t ride really high above the truck.
andregg1 - nice work! Someday I hope to have the time to try some things like you are doing.
